For those of you that have not heard the full story as to what happened to my dad. Wednesday morning, 8/30/2017, Geoff was working and he collapsed from a heart attack. Thanks to his fast acting co-workers, they were able to get him CPR as well as AED. The Doctors said that if he had not received that rapid care from his co-workers and fast arriving EMT's, then Geoff would not be alive today. He has been put in a medical induced coma, on life support, and has been given paralytic meds to prevent him from moving too much since he is hooked up to plenty of things.  They cooled his body to 93 degrees Fahrenheit to prevent his body from working overtime since he did not have a heart beat for 35 minutes while they were performing CPR on him, Because of this, his organs were damaged so his body is trying to recover from the lack of oxygen. They warmed his body back up a few days ago and they say his organs are doing fine. Not great, but fine. His heart was on an ecmo machine which was helping his heart perform properly. He just finished with the surgery to remove the ecmo machine and today's goal will be to monitor his heart and see how it does without the assistants of the machine. He is still in the coma and they have hopes that he should be able to wake up in a few days. Since he has been out for so long as well as being loaded with quite a bit of drugs, it could take him a long time to wake up. I have been here, at the U of M East Bank Hospital, every single day since this happened. I will be updating this site as well as Facebook, every time there is something worth updating, A lot of this is a waiting game so there's a chance that I will not have updates every single day. I am dedicated to getting everybody up to speed. My dad has a lot of friends so I cannot keep in constant contact with everyone via text and call.
Please continue to pray for my dad!
