Genna Lute

Genna has been busy slaying dragons. The kidney dragon is the eldest, and she remains on dialysis 3 days a week, but other dragons have made prominent appearances, particularly since January 16, 2019.  A chronic, severe stabbing pain in her abdomen from issues related to her 2014 bariatric surgery has become increasingly worse over the past 18 months and ultimately led to the fight with the Xanax dragon as she increased her medication over time to deal with the pain that her doctors could not resolve.

Multiple hospitals to include Florida Hospital, Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Phillips Hospital, Lawnwood Regional Medical Center, Memorial Hospital Pembroke, as well as Sunrise Detox have played a role in Genna's journey this last month. As it stands today (February 20th), she has almost completely conquered the Xanax addiction with a very difficult but medically supervised detoxification regimen and has been diagnosed with not one but two severe bleeding ulcers requiring two separate blood transfusions.  It is not certain these ulcers are causing her severe abdominal stabbing pain, but it certainly seems to be the most likely cause.

It is a delicate balance trying to manage her pain with the medication restrictions during detoxification and rehabilitation.  She is being treated for her  ulcers with a very restrictive bland, soft food diet along with liquid Carafate and Dexilant which hopefully will result in healing the next 4-6 weeks.

Genna is checking in today for a 4 week program at The Beachcomber Recovery Center in Delray Beach to continue her Xanax dragon slaying.  Her visitation at Beachcomber will be limited to immediate family on Tuesday evenings and extended family only on Saturday afternoons for the next 28 days. It is our hope that your support and loving comments posted on this site will be waiting for her when she completes her current treatment on March 19th.
