After months of increased weakness in his right leg, Gene was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) on February 22, 2019.  The past year has been a roller coaster, and Gene's physical condition has deteriorated rapidly.  Even Gene's doctors have expressed surprise by the speed of the progression of his ALS, which ever-competitive Gene proudly says makes him "The Usain Bolt of ALS."  Thankfully his sense of humor remains fully intact!

Communication is very difficult for him, and so we thought it best to set up a single site where you all could come to get news of Gene and his family.  We so appreciate all of you who have reached out, offered support and said prayers.  While this is no doubt a difficult time, we are all incredibly grateful for our friends and family.  Thank you.
