Welcome friends and family to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. This means the world to us, and especially our dad.  Many of you are his lifeline each and every day.  Thank you for visiting and supporting him.  Our dad, Gene,  was diagnosed with stage 4 Kidney Cancer on December 12, 2018.  He was informed the cancer has spread to his lungs and lymph nodes.  Although this can't be cured there are treatment options.  After hearing his treatment options he decided to start immunotherapy to fight the cancer.  This means the therapy will work with his immune system to fight the cancer.  He will have a port inserted in his chest on December 21st and the treatment will start on December 27th.  Luckily all of his treatment can be done in Sturgeon Bay so he doesn't have to travel very far.  Each treatment session will last for 6-7 hours.  For 4-5 hours of it he will be up to play cards for anyone who is interested. smiling.  His hope is that he can continue to live in Baileys Harbor throughout this process.  If he responds positively to treatment,   he will get treatment every three weeks for a total of 4 treatments.  At that time a scan will be done to see if the immunotherapy is helping to slow the tumor growth and determine the treatment plan from that point.  We will keep you updated on his appointments.  Feel free to leave messages for our dad here.  Will will make sure to share them with him.

Regards,
Tammy, Teresa and Wally
