Welcome to our CaringBridge website. I wanted to have an easy way to keep all of our family and friends updated. I'll give you a quick history on gene's journey.  Gene was diagnosed on 7/30/18 with Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma and also had a stroke on the day of diagnosis.  He received six rounds of R-CHOP chemotherapy and has done quite well since then.  Unfortunately, on July 4, 2020, he was taken to the ER and admitted to the hospital with septic shock and  diabetic ketoacidosis with what turned out to be  lymphoma recurrence in the spleen  at the site of his original tumor. His spleen was infected and made a fistula into his stomach causing bleeding into his stomach.  He underwent a splenectomy  and partial gastrectomy on July 5th and after four transfusions and a week in the hospital, he is recovering well. although his diabetes complicates things. The next step is to undergo an autologous stem cell transplant.  (Keep reading for all that has happened since July.)

We appreciate any and all prayers you have time to offer up.
