My name is Gayle Dicus, but you might know me by my maiden name, " Luitwieler."  Born in England, I grew up in the states and lived in several cities, including Pittsburgh, Houston, and Tulsa. My husband and I worked hard to create a life full of love and animals on our small farm outside the city. But we sold everything not long ago and moved to St. Pete Beach, Florida. I wish I could say it was just about fun in the sun, but we knew we needed better treatment options for my health and my life.

I have been living with one kidney since I was six months old.
Over the years, my right kidney has worked extra hard and served me well, but infections and time have taken a toll. I now need a kidney transplant, ideally via a living donor. The doctors say I am in great health except for my kidney issue, making a living donor the best option.

Here are some interesting facts about becoming a donor:  All medical services related to organ donation are submitted to the recipient's insurance. The recipient's insurance typically covers all medical services related to your organ donation, including your evaluation, hospitalization, surgery, follow-up care, and treatment of any surgical complications. Plus, if you're a match for me, you'll spend some time in the Sunshine State with a woman who will always know you helped save her life and believe me, I will repay that love by living my life to the fullest every day.

There are so many people out there who need help; even if you're not a match for me, you might be able to help someone else. Thank you for taking the time to read part of my story and for your consideration. I wish you nothing but health and happiness no matter what you decide, and I hope we find a match soon for myself and others just like me.
