Gaye had, in many ways, a wonderful childhood, but she was frequently sick and discovered later in life she had a congenital disease called hemochromatosis which caused organ problems for her, she lost her sight due to temporal arteritis 19 years ago and the struggles continued when she had a stroke in 2009. We were living together in an apartment in Lexington Kentucky where I broke my leg and we both ended up in a nursing home not quite two years ago. I managed to get out though I still have some walking issues. Gaye has gradually become less mobile and has more health issues that continue to take their toll on her. We put her in Hospice Care 6 months ago with the understanding that she could stay in as long as two years if she was still okay, Her deterioration has become more rapid and she probably won't live to see my birthday the end of December.
