Thank you for visiting Gary's Caring Bridge page!! We hope you will take a minute to send Gary some well wishes, encouragement...just a friendly note to brighten his day!
In 2016, Gary was diagnosed with NASH: Non-Alcoholic SteatoHepatitis. His liver is failing following nearly 56 years of medications used to help manage epileptic seizures. Over the past year, he has had multiple hospital visits to address issues that come along with a liver that is no longer functioning...it has been a year of struggles and pain for him. Although Gary's MELD score has escalated to the point where he is eligible for a transplant, Barnes hospital does not currently deem him to be a viable transplant candidate. He recently exhausted all available leave with his government job...he misses the opportunity to earn a living.
Tonight, Gary returned home from his most recent hospital stay where he received transfusions to boost low hemoglobin levels, a procedure to stop internal bleeding, and his abdomen was drained of excess fluid putting pressure on his internal organs. He will be receiving home health care visits and physical therapy to hopefully help him gain strength in the coming days.
Gary would love to hear from you, and we covet your prayers as we continue to pursue care for Gary. We will post updates to this page as we journey onward.
With love & hope-- Margaret & Hugh, Alan & Renee, Barbara & Joe....along with Gary's loving nieces & nephews Zoe, Braeden, Sophia & Joseph
