Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

On the 18th of May, after days of feeling unwell, Gary was admitted to the hospital with Covid and Pneumonia. His first night he was moved into ICU due to his needs being more than what a regular room could provide. At first it appeared that this would be a short stay, as he immediately started feeling better once given oxygen. But then it became apparent that he could not maintain a healthy level of oxygen on his own. On the 23rd it was discovered that a blood clot had formed in his leg. Due to the seriousness of his oxygen needs, it was decided that the focus would remain on his lungs and the clot would be treated with blood thinners. Surgery at that point was not an option. As the days went by he was needing higher and higher levels of oxygen, and any physical movement (using the commode, eating, carrying on a conversation) became extremely draining. This morning, the 29th of May, the decision was made to intubate. Gary is now under sedation, on a ventilator, and receiving nutrition through a feeding tube. It is our hope that this will give his body the rest, oxygen, and nutrients that he needs in order to heal.

We will utilize the journal on this site to provide updates as he makes progress. It may be a few days before any new information is available, but please continue to check back for updates, and keep Gary in your thoughts. Prayers, well wishes, positive vibes, and good juju are all welcome, and very much appreciated.
