Cheryl Unterschutz’s husband, Gary Unterschutz, was fatally injured in a non-vehicular bicycle accident Sunday morning, December 1, 2019. Gary was doing what he loved, out giving his dog, Kai, a good run. It was slick outside, and he somehow crashed, landing in such a way as to cause a traumatic brain injury. He received treatment at University Hospital, but was officially declared brain dead at 4:31 PM on December 2, 2019. Services are being arranged and will be posted soon... Gary had already decided to be an organ donor, and had been approved to donate a kidney last month. He is currently being matched as a donor and will be able to help more than 75 people!
