After years of neglect and hostility at treating Gary by the infamous GBO, he became quite ill and almost died up at the cabin. We brought him to the local Hospital ER. (What a great place BTW) U.P. Portage Health did an outstanding job of identifying the problem and quite literally saved his life. This enabled us to take him back to the Mayo in Rochester. He has undergone a procedure called VDT-PACE which will knock down the cancerous blood cells which have flooded his system. If this goes well and Gary is able to survive the recovery and get his strength back, he will have the opportunity to receive his second SCT. This could reset his bone marrow so he can once again resume normal treatment to keep the cancer in check. So that is where we are today. The story will continue in journal entries.
