I have stage 3 Esophageal cancer and liver failure.  I have completed radiation therapy and chemotherapy.  I was scheduled for the surgery to remove the esophagus in January but was told by the surgeons that I am not a candidate for the surgery.  They were afraid that surgery would put me in too great a risk from major bleeding complications due to my coexisting medial issues and portal hypertension due to the liver failure.  So we are basically being told to hurry up and wait.   I am not afraid to die, but I hate to leave my wife behind to deal with the mess caused by this cancer on her own.
