Gary Bates

Welcome to our family Caringbridge site for our dad, Gary W. Bates.  We felt this would be a good place to post dad's medical updates and have transferred information over from Facebook so we can keep family and friends updated in one place.  Thank you all for your concern, we appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.  He is striving to becoming healthy again and back home with our Mom.  Thank you for visiting.

Initially he was admitted to Valley Medical Center in August due to an unknown illness that had affected him.  It turned out he was suffering from internal bleeding and the doctors were trying hard to figure out where it was coming from.  He has had a myriad of tests, pokes and at least 7 units of blood over the past several weeks.  A few weeks ago he was transferred to Snoqualmie Valley Hospital for rehabilitation in order for him to gain strength enough to go home.  Unfortunately, after the initial bleeding had mostly subsided, it returned, as well as an infection that developed and it became clear he needed to return to Valley for further testing and treatment.
