Garnet Sofillas

Welcome to Garnet’s CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement! Here is a summary of Garnet’s journey:

Garnet was diagnosed stage 4 rectal cancer in June 2021 with 3 mets to lungs. She then had 8 rounds of chemotherapy (Folfox/Avastin), 3 surgeries to remove all cancer, and then 3 new nodules formed in her lungs.

Beginning in August 2022, Garnet had 12 rounds of chemotherapy (Folfiri/Avastin) and then 5 rounds of SBRT radiation on lung nodules. Garnet was told lung nodules were all gone in April 2023.

In December of 2023, Garnet was diagnosed with 3 lung nodules (2 are reoccurring). The doctor is now saying long term chemo is best option. Her lungs are too damaged for more surgery or radiation. We will continue to have Hope! God is with us.
