In October of 2020, Garek was diagnosed with stage IV adenocarcinoma of his gastroesophageal (GE) junction, the area where the esophagus and stomach join together. His family and friends have united with the medical community in a force that is dedicated to his complete remission and healing, a process that will require a tiered and holistic approach.
