Welcome to Dad's Caring Bridge Page.  Terri and I are struggling to keep everyone up-to-date with all the things going on with Dad, so we thought we might be more successful this way.  Thank you all for all your support.  Your love and support helps us get through the tough times.

So, here we go.....

Some time during the third week of September dad decided to add some variety to his night life with some pheasant hunting.  Instead of the normal running or falling dreams that land most people out of bed and onto the floor, he used a shotgun.  In his words, " I lunged to take a shot and woke up on the floor!"  As typical for dad, he shook it off and went on with his day.  About a week later though he ended up in the ER with some pretty intense pain.  On September 29, he was admitted to the VA for diagnosis.

After an x-ray they discovered he had a fractured hip.  No wonder he had some pain!  A few years ago dad fell in his wood shop and broke his hip, or more accurately, his femur.  At that time he had a surgery to put a rod in his femur.  This fall caused the screws holding the rod to his bone to shift and he now needs to have the rod removed and his entire hip replaced.  Yippee!

We will continue in journal entries, as if we had been writing this all along.  Mostly because I've tried to write the whole thing here and there's no way to save it until you finish and I've already had to rewrite this 3 times!
