Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends informed. This is what Gail posted on Facebook - I have not said much about the health issue I have been fighting since November, and I thought it was about time. Back in Nov, I was diagnosed with ALS. My neice who is a nurse and has 2 friends (nurses) who were recently diagnosed with chronic lyme suggested I see their lyme specialist. I knew I had been bit years ago, my dogs all have or had lyme, I hunt in CT and live in the woods. With the help of my nephew calling the office to get me in soon I was diagnosed with lyme and 3 co-infectants. Lyme is noted as being the great immatator. I began treatment and will have a very long road ahead of me. I am also seeing a world renoun neurologist in CT, who is treating me for Multi-focal Motor Neuropathy, which can also be lyme related. The lyme and MMN are treatable, a long road ahead of me. No matter what anyone believies about lyme I have nothing to loose considering the original diagnosis. My friends and family who have known have been my best supporters! I hope that I can come through this and prove that chronic lyme can immitate ALS and soon I can have my life back. This has been a very difficult time for Joe and I.
