Some of you already know, but most do not, that I'm having foot surgery on December 2. The doctor is realigning my heel and fusing my left subtalar joint for those who are interested in specifics. They're also doing something to my big toe, so it's a two-fer! Because this is foot surgery, I will not be weight-bearing on that foot for a while. It'll probably be six weeks of complete non-weight bearing and then a boot for several more months. After approximately six months of recovery, they're going to do it all over again with the other foot! So exciting!
I've been working hard to get my apartment, my job, and my life ready for this (toilet seat risers, oy vey!). I'll be getting roller aids and crutches and stuff, but because I have arthritis in my knees and other places, I'm not going to be very mobile for the next year. That's why I thought I'd start this site. Awesome, huh?
I've already enlisted some wonderful friends who are going to help with some of the big things, and I've hired a friend to help clean and do laundry. Several people have already offered to get groceries and help with cooking, but I hate to burden just one or two friends, so I thought I'd spread the love! Mostly, though, I think I'm going to want company. I'm pretty sure I'm going to go nuts just sitting at home all winter, so if anyone wants to stop by and play games or watch movies (and bring dinner or snacks!) that would help me more than anything else. My door will be open any time! Not literally. You'll still have to ring that stupid buzzer, but you know what I mean. Looking forward to seeing you!
