Francesca Persephone Maren Hollenbeck, known to family and friends as "Frankie", was born on 9/16/17. She was born to Rocco and Natalie Hollenbeck. She was lucky enough to be born into a family that already had a half-brother and half-sister waiting to shower love on her. Jackson is 10 and Brielle is 6. Her first 8 weeks of life were quite typical to that of a newborn. She spent countless hours sleeping and cuddling with her family and friends. She loved nothing more than to sleep ON TOP of mom and dad, or holding someone's hand. However, she was not fond of sleeping alone very often. She was a natural born cuddle bug and thrived off of human contact and touch. Frankie was a great lover of eating as well. She was born 8 lbs 7 oz and at 2 weeks old, she was over 10 lbs. She was hitting every milestone, smiling often and all in all, a happy and content baby. At around 8 weeks old, Frankie developed cold symptoms. She had a lot of mucous in her throat and seemed to have trouble breathing. Her eating was affected as well. She did not seem to have much of an appetite, and couldn't keep down the food she was eating. So on Sunday, November 12th, Frankie was brought to the Urgent Care. At first, the results were possible pneumonia. Frankie was rushed to Galisono Children's Hospital in Syracuse, NY. It was there in the pediatric ER that the blood test and ultrasound results all pointed to Leukemia, more specifically, Acute Myeloid Leukemia. This is her story...
