Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We've created it to keep friends and family updated on Frani. We all know this precious lady has a heart of gold and is always looking out for us. Now is our chance to give back and look after her! I am thankful that you have joined in and will stay up to date as she fights, and wins, the battle of breast cancer.
Frani went for her yearly mammogram in March of this year. Because of previous concerns with her breast tissue, she had 3D imaging done, which helped the doctor spot a serious problem. Unfortunately, she received a call from her doctor with some concerns and ordered another mammogram and breast ultrasound. After confirming the concerns, a biopsy was ordered and was performed on April 3rd and a breast MRI on April 7th. It was with these tests she was diagnosed with invasive mammary carcinoma.
Frani will undergo a mastectomy on Friday, May 26th and will remain at the hospital overnight. After they do a complete biopsy, it will then be determined if she will need to move forward with chemo and/or radiation.
When talking with Frani about everything that is going on, she stressed this comment and thought I would pass it on "I have been getting my yearly mammograms since age 40 & must stress this to all women: Please do not delay scheduling your mammogram appointment; do it today!!" Ladies, please listen to her!
