Welcome. We've created a CaringBridge site to keep friends and family updated on Mother's condition. On July 18, 2014, Mother began having excruciating throat nerve pain every time she swallowed. For 3 days she ate only a few very small bites and drank only a few sips - each of them excruciating. We knew the symptoms, because she had had this three years ago. The doctor hospitalized her with an IV to rehydrate her. They diagnosed her with glossopharyngeal neuralgia. No pain medicine would touch it. Our only choice was to put her on Tegretol, which stops the pain but totally incapacitates her. We've moved her into our home, because she could no longer take care of any of her own needs. Since then she has had another trip to the hospital. Every day brings a new challenge. We appreciate your prayers as we make decisions for her care and health.
