As many of you know Fran has enjoyed great health for many years. Around the middle of February she experienced unexplained shortness of breath. The doctors found fluid in her chest cavity. After several drainings and a biopsy she was diagnosed with High Grade B cell Lymphoma. Shortly after the diagnosis her calcium level spiked landing her in the Cape Cod Hospital. Her calcium levels came down and she was discharged to a rehabilitation center with orders to get stronger with physical therapy. She was progressing well until she developed and infection which put her back into Cape Cod Hospital. Once a bed finally opened up a Brigham and Women's hospital in Boston Fran was transported . We are very fortunate to have her in one of the leading cancer treatment centers in the world.
On Tuesday May 2nd we will begin her chemotherapy as we work towards a healthy recovery. This will entail 6 treatments about 3 weeks apart. The plan is to have the first treatment at Brigham and Women's with several days recovery. She will then be released to a rehabilitation center, yet to be selected. Upon discharge she will be staying at her son Wayne's house in Londonderry, NH where she will rest comfortably and continue the remaining treatments.
Fran is truly blessed to be surrounded by an amazing support network. Many thanks to the family, friends, neighbors, quilt group members, golf league friends who have all have come together to support and encourage Fran for a speedy recovery. Please check back here for updates on her successful recovery.
