On Saturday, November 19, Florencia received a blow to the head from a falling branch while she was walking in the woods. The tree branch struck her on the head and back. She was first taken care of by paramedics at the scene, and then sent to the Suburban hospital. Due to the severity of the injuries, doctors decided that evening to transfer her to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, a free-standing trauma hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, part of the University of Maryland Medical Center. She was sent into surgery to drain blood out from her brain. The surgery went well. We are now waiting for her to wake up, and continue her recovery.
We thank you for all the messages we have received from our family, friends, classmates, co-workers, neighbors and acquaintances. To support Florencia in her recovery, and keep everyone up-to-date, we will update this page with news of her recovery.
We invite family and friends to post here your good wishes, and messages of love and encouragement for Florencia. This journal will serve as a testimony of how much everybody cares for and loves Florencia.

El sábado 19 de noviembre Florencia sufrió un golpe en la cabeza mientras paseaba en el bosque. La rama de un árbol le golpeó la cabeza y espalda. La atendieron los paramédicos en el lugar del hecho y luego la derivaron al hospital Suburban. Esa misma noche, debido a la seriedad de las lesiones, sus médicos decidieron trasladarla al R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, un hospital traumatológico independiente en Baltimore, Maryland, que es parte del Centro Médico de la Universidad de Maryland. Tuvo una cirugía para drenar sangre de su cerebro por la noche. La cirugía salió bien y todavía estamos esperando que se despierte y continúe su recuperación.
