On November 3, 2016 my mom was scheduled to have her bi-annual CT Scan and meet with her oncologist.  However, her blood work showed there was an issue with her kidneys and she was not able to have the scan.  Her oncologist was concerned about the blockage, as it was not there  when she had her scan in May.  Over the next few weeks she had more tests and met with more doctors.  It was determined there was a blockage in her right kidney and she was scheduled to have a stent inserted.

The stent helped for a little while and then Mom started feeling pressure in her rectum.  More tests and doctor visits ensued.  Finally, a colonoscopy determined the colon cancer had returned.  The next step was to meet with a surgeon to make a plan.  That appointment took place on February 13 in Marshfield, WI.  After meeting with the surgeon, we were left with more questions than answers.  Reason being, the surgeon does not really know what he will find when he goes in.  What he does know is that the tumor is attached to something and Mom will end up with a colostomy bag.  Mom lived with one before, and she will live with it again.

Surgery is set for March 9 in Marshfield, WI.  Mom will be in the hospital for at least 1 week.  I will have my computer and will update this site as soon as I have information to share.  Please stay tuned and send prayers for a positive outcome.
