Welcome to our CaringBridge website for Bruce and Cindy Hicks.

We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place, so everyone can keep track together.

As you may know, Bruce and Cindy were broadsided Sunday afternoon at Rock and Mill Street. He was in the process of returning from two weeks in Utah heroically fighting a major wild fire.  He was still wearing his Fire Captain's field uniform when they were struck.

There is a news story on the KOLO news website that has further details.

Cindy sustained broken ribs and is expected to be released tomorrow.

Bruce is in ICU with multiple spinal fractures and internal injuries.  After extensive work in the Operating Room, Bruce had a difficult night.  His trauma surgeon was brilliant and saved his life. Bruce  was watched overnight by a 24 hour vigil of North Tahoe Firefighters and other Angels.  He is now in stable, but critical condition.   We trust that God has played a role in his survival.

We appreciate your love, prayers and words of encouragement.
