Tom Johnston Fight with Tom

Thank you for visiting.  On October 19 we were told the news that no one wants to hear “ Tom  I have a little bad news you have a mass” The doctor told us the tumor was small and would require surgery to remove it  and that would be it. A week later Tom had an ultrasound and was told  he would not be able to have surgery at this time because there were three lymph nodes  involved. Tom would have to have radiation and chemotherapy then surgery. Next Monday Tom goes to Duke to be marked up for radiation.  Please keep him in your prayers as he begins this fight!
Update….. as you know we finished round one of this journey January 5. February 5 , we had a follow up PET and MRI done only to find out that the original tumor was pretty much gone PRAISE but that the cancer had spread to Toms spine. Seriously this news was hard to hear we cried A LOT. The other thing we were told was that the resection surgery was now longer an option. After digestion the news and praying a lot we started round two of the journey with a new type of chemotherapy for us called FOLFOX. May 16, we completed round two and got results of the CT scan. Tomorrow Tom gets mapped for round three of treatment. We will continue to fight as long as Tom has great quality of life which he does have. Another HUGE PRAISE🙏 Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the prayers and support. We feel them and when we have weak moments we feel them even more.
