Thank you for visiting! Well friends and family, the fight has begun. I have breast cancer, and I intend to fight like a mother....! lol After not having health insurance for a few years, I decided in late 2018 to go ahead and sign up, So in January my insurance co. bribed me to go have an annual exam. I did, and the doctor mentioned that it'd been a few years since my last mammogram, we do them right here in the office, why don't you go ahead and get one? I did...and they asked me to come back for an ultrasound. And then they said we need for you to go see a surgeon, and get a biopsy. Said biopsy went very quick and easy, mostly because I was distracted talking to the doctor about our mutual favorite tv show, The Walking Dead. :-) The results came in a couple days faster than expected, and it wasn't good. I have Stage 2 IDC, (Invasive)Infiltrating Ductal Carcinoma. It's a "could be better, could be (lots) worse" situation. I'm unbelievably thankful it was discovered when it was. There were no changes or lump felt. The squishing, though uncomfortable, was vital in spotting it. (Ladies, do self exams and get squished (get your mammo regularly); gents, self examine too, though rare, men get it too. ) Ok PSA over lol I have the most common type of breast cancer, so there's that. So far I'm facing surgery (lumpectomy and radiation), or major surgery (mastectomy & reconstruction). I'm awaiting the results from the additional testing, and my genetic test. I'll keep ya posted!
