Grant Marmer Fighting For Grant

First post: Oct 12, 2021 Latest post: Mar 18, 2022
Our 12 year old son, Jonathan Grant Marmer, affectionately known as Grant, was diagnosed with High Risk Hodgkin Lymphoma on October 4, 2021. He is a little brother to Drew, our Junior at Weddington High School. Grant had just started his 6th grade year attending Weddington Middle School and playing football for the WMS Wildcats, when we first started noticing symptoms. After a month of excusing away extreme fatigue, weight loss, dry cough, loss of appetite, and inconsistency in keeping food down, I decided to take him to the doctor in hopes we could figure out the source of this illness, which had been interfering with his ability to participate in normal daily activities like school, football, etc.

Thanks to the pediatrician who was able to work us into his schedule, who did not write off the vague symptoms of a child who wasn’t his normal patient. Who decided to take us seriously enough to order blood work, who called us on a Saturday, and who urgently ordered a chest X-Ray. His diligence led to the eventual discovery of this cancer and quickly placed us in the care of a very capable and promising team of doctors and nurses within St. Judes & Novant Health.

Grant will never be alone as he embarks on this fight against pediatric cancer. We are so fortunate to have the love of many family & friends and support from our community that has shown us big love like we have never known. We’re all fighting #ForGrant18.

Thank you for caring enough to follow us along on the toughest road we’ve ever been down,
Abe, Melanie, Drew and Grant 💙💚💛💙
