Gayle Kirkendall Fighting 12's

Hi Family and Friends!  Well,  my Size 12 Feet and I  are off an a different kind of adventure/journey this time.  They have taken me to the beach, on hikes, to California,  jumping rope, dancing and playing with kids, and  to Rome and Paris!   Now the journey is more of a battle than an adventure  -  at the end of July 2017 I was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer, in my right breast and right lymph nodes.  

After a year of chemotherapy, yes I was nauseous.  Surgeries - yes more than one.  Radiation - yes the burns hurt.  I was headed back to school - thinking I was cancer free.   I noticed something on my skin.  I thought it was a bruise - I was moving stuff in and out of my classroom.  Yay life!  My oncologist just wanted to put me on chemotherapy - just in case and I might as well get a CT scan - just in case.  "Your cancer scares me and we just want to be safe." Well, after the scans, and some biopsies -they found cancer in the lymph nodes on the left side, some concerning spots on my lungs and the spot on my skin was breast cancer of the skin.  So what was Stage 3 is now stage 4.  


Here is the latest on this I don't know what to call it - cancer walk?  I had to quit school - I think for good this time.  (Always the hope that something will change ha). The chemo is no longer working, so I am off of that.  The cancer has spread - they say progressed.  My doctors are looking for clinical trials.  I know the end game - though I don't know when.  And until then - I am going to LIVE!   I am living in a place I love - California -  by my family.  I have the kindest friends and family.  I will keep you updated.
