Welcome to the CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends of Father Moore updated in one place. Your support and words of hope and encouragement are appreciated. Thank you for visiting. One of us will try and update the site at least weekly and more frequently if there is "breaking news". As many know, Father Moore was diagnosed with an inoperable, aggressive (and of course it would have to be) rare form of cancer, Angiosarcoma, in August of 2016. In the fall of 2016 he was administered radiation and had several surgeries. In April of 2017 he learned that the cancer spread to his lungs. Further radiation or surgery was not an option. ) He travelled to Arizona mid-April to consider the option of non-curative chemotherapy. While there, on April 21, he fell (a long story) six feet, breaking nine ribs and underwent surgery to re-inflate his lung. He was in ICU/Acute Care hospitals in Arizona until May 10th when he was flown home and admitted to Saint Elias Specialty Hospital, a long term acute care hospital in Anchorage. He is expected to recover from the broken ribs but is tired and in pain. He is gaining strength and independent mobility every day. A discharge date has not been set, and when he is discharged it will be to his home at the rectory for Saint Elizabeth’s’ church in Anchorage. The medical staff is not permitting “drop-in” visitors and this web page is a great way to stay in touch. Thanks for all the prayers and support.
