Eileen, mom to 3 sons age 17, 19, and 22, had a minor procedure in the summer of 2016 and came home ready to start feeling great. However, the opposite was true. Her labored breathing wouldn’t subside and she visited doctor after doctor with no relief. Finally, it was discovered she has Stage 4 non-smoker lung cancer. The doctors at Penn are treating Eileen, but so far the results have been mixed at best. She is currently undergoing radiation treatment in addition to the immunotherapy. The radiation is to help with severe pain she is experiencing due to a tumor at the base of her spine making it incredibly painful to try and get out of bed to do the most minor things.
