At the 24 week ultrasound we found out that the baby's blood flow was intermittently reversed and that he was diagnosed with  severe  Intrauterine Growth Restriction (IUGR).  Keary was hospitalized off and on in November and ongoing since December 2 for preclampsia and to watch the baby's blood flow.

On December 29, 2016, Keary was sick with an excruciating headache and extremely high blood pressure. The on-call doctor decided to perform an unplanned ultrasound of the baby's umbilical cord and placenta to check the blood flow. It was completely reversed, meaning all of the blood that was supposed to be going to the baby was going back into Keary.  For the health of Keary and the baby the doctor decided  to deliver via emergency c-section. Within an hour and half from the ultrasound at 27 weeks, 5 days gestation, Evan Matthew was born. He weighed 1 pound, 12 ounces and was 12 1/2 inches long. He was quickly intubated and brought up to the NICU at Children's Hospital in Minneapolis.

We know it's going to be a long road in the NICU until he is able to come home. We greatly appreciate all of your support and words of hope and encouragement.
