On June 9, Miquel took Eugènia to the emergency room because of severe headaches. She was immediately sent to surgery because MRI revealed a ruptured brain aneurysm. This is a dangerous condition that can lead to hemorrhagic stroke. The very good news is that Eugènia came through the seven-hour surgery, regained consciousness, and knows where and who she is (Miquel says she even started to "organize my life"/ give instructions - very like Eugènia!). However, there is a pretty high risk of infection, vasospasms, and other complications that require continuous observation and perhaps further interventions over the next (minimally) two weeks. I will be in Barcelona next week and will try to visit, and will send an update then (or before, if I learn anything new).
Eugènia has many friends around the world who are very concerned and will want to keep up to date - so we have set up this site to keep all of the updates in one place. We all send our love to Eugènia and her beautiful family. We will do our best to keep this site updated - if you want to leave a message, or make others aware of the site, please do so and I'm sure it will be appreciated.
