Whether you are a parent, spouse, or sibling, you will be moved by Ethan’s story.   Situations like this just shouldn't happen to good people.

Ethan Scott is a 15 year old from Gastonia, NC who loves his parents, three brothers, extended family and friends – and treats everyone he meets with true kindness. Ethan enjoys reading and exploring the outdoors, and he has a rock solid faith in God, attending church every Sunday.  In August 2016, Ethan was diagnosed with mixed germ cell cancer. He had surgery and then underwent several rounds of chemotherapy in the fall.  To the dismay of Ethan and his family, his treatment was unsuccessful and he is now diagnosed with refractory mixed germ cell cancer – which means his cancer cells are resistant to chemo.  Despite this turn of events, Ethan continues to be a model of faith and courage, and he truly is living every day with a beautiful spirit of hope.

Recent tests have revealed that Ethan’s cancer is continuing to advance.  Ethan’s parents, Lauri and Gary, have sought out multiple medical opinions and have determined that the best next treatment step for Ethan is through a medical clinic in Tijuana, Mexico which utilizes cutting-edge treatments custom-tailored to the patient and his or her disease.  These treatments are not covered by insurance and cost approximately $7,000 a week.  Ethan and his parents would like to try the treatments for three weeks to see if they are working.  If the treatments are shown to be effective Ethan will stay at the clinic for at least another 3 weeks.  The clinic must be paid weekly so $21,000 is needed within the next 3 weeks and there is a possible need of $42,000 within six weeks.

Those of us who know Ethan are in awe at his positive attitude in the face of such a difficult journey. Ethan has inspired his entire family and his many friends to live with faith in a loving God, and to never lose hope despite the challenges ahead. We know Ethan is a fighter and he will continue to fight this disease. Please take the time to support Ethan and his family - both with a donation and a prayer.   The best place to make a donation is Ethan’s Go Fund Me page:  https://www.gofundme.com/wvq8xm8-ethans-medical-fund
