Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
So, here's what we know. On Oct. 28., after struggling with a pain on my left side, and having a somewhat difficult night of sleep, Suzanne dragged me to the emergency room and we found out what was really going on. Prostate Cancer!! Stage 4. Ahhhhh! Actually, both of us were quite taken aback. There had been no symptoms of anything being this serious that either she or I could have pointed to to say, "Hey we should get this checked out." This literally came out of the blue.
A few weeks in the Oncology ward of PVH ( the nurses there are awesome!!) one kidney infection and two weeks of antibiotics, a nephrostomy procedure, a stent, the start of hormone therapy ( a shot in the butt!!) and just last week the installation of a Power Port, and we're ready for chemo. Should start sometime soon.
In the meantime, the calls, cards, prayers and hugs have been awesome! Thank you! As you can see by our pictures, I'm staying as active as possible. We're remodeling a bedroom in the basement, going on bike rides when the weather permits, eating, cooking, going to meetings and trying to be as " normal as possible".
We will update this site regularly, and appreciate anything you would like to contribute to the journal section. Lets keep in touch! I love to hear from you, and thank you again for all the words of encouragement.
