I began having speech issues while teaching in the spring of 2021. When the issues did not go away with treatment I saw a neurologist and was diagnosed with ALS. While my family and I are shocked and taken aback by this diagnosis, we will not be deprived of the joy that life still holds for us ahead. I will fight this disease. As a New Orleans Saints fan, I have followed the story of Steve Gleason for many years. I will follow his motto of "NO WHITE FLAGS".
