On January 15th, Erin learned that she has Stage 2 breast cancer.  She has a tumor in her milk duct - called invasive ductile carcinoma.  Her axillary lymph node was biopsied at the same time as her breast - both biopsies were positive for cancer.  Erin's cancer is also HER2 positive, meaning that the cancer cells have a gene mutation making them grow more aggressively than other cancers.

Erin underwent several tests last week including gene testing of the cancer cells - this will tell the doctors if the cancer she has is likely to reoccur, and if it is prone to spreading to other organs.  She also had an MRI and a PET scan on Friday.  Again, these tests are used to determine if and/or  the extent to which her cancer has metastasized into other areas of her body.

Erin has several doctors appointments this week (oncologists and surgeons)  to go over all the test results and determine the best course of treatment.  She will likely be facing a 20-week course of Chemo to start.  The medical team will determine this week if she needs a lumpectomy, a mastectomy or a double mastectomy.

The outpouring of love and support Erin has received from friends and family has been phenomenal.  Erin is definitely feeling the love and is very grateful for each and every one of you.  She has a fantastically positive attitude - I am just in awe of her!  She has said numerous times already that she WILL beat this, and she knows she is not alone, she has all of you, and she has God.  Your support and her strong faith will get her through!

Please check back to this site as I will be updating it whenever there is new information.  Please keep Erin in your prayers!
