Welcome to Erik's CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated all in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope, love and encouragement for Erik, Casey, Madison and Alexa.
On August 19th, Erik spent a beautiful Saturday morning with his family, went on his normal (effortless) 6-mile run, and was feeling great.
Around 10:30am, Erik began feeling incredibly nauseous with a bad headache. Casey took him to Urgent Care, and they were then sent to Valley General ER, where doctors detected a mass in his brain during a CT scan. Thinking it was a tumor, they proceeded with an MRI, but during the procedure, blood vessels in the mass area ruptured, causing bleeding on the brain.
Erik was quickly airlifted to Harborview, and prepped for surgery to relieve brain pressure and determine the cause of the rupture.
