Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Eric was diagnosed with inoperable non-small cell squamous carcinoma on June 27. The tumor is centrally located in his chest, mostly in his right upper lung where the bronchial tube branches off.

The doctors are very positive and are addressing it as curable. He will start radiation and chemotherapy on July 18 and undergo 6 1/2 weeks of aggressive treatment. After this, we will have a month of recovery, after which they will do more scans and tests to determine whether additional chemotherapy is needed.

As you can imagine, Eric would rather be in the forest on his bike zooming around on the single track, or making art in the studio. For the moment, we are concentrating our efforts on our gardens, eating well, and healing with the help of our doctors, friends, family, and furry children -- our cat Georgia Lee has regularly been giving Eric cuddle and kneading treatments.

Eric's philosophy has been to tread lightly on this earth, to treat all creatures well, to respect the wonder of nature, and to cherish the fragility of the moment. To see oneself in others and to imagine life from their perspective. To leave some of the mysterious uninvestigated in quiet humility. To help the small without recognition and face power and the unknown with fearless courage. Because he is who he is, it makes it all the more shocking and surreal to be going through this.
