Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. There are four words parents never wants to hear...Your child has cancer. Sadly, this has become a reality...Erich was diagnosed with Stage 3 esophageal cancer this past June. A growth was discovered at the junction between his esophagus and stomach, along with growths in his stomach and near his liver. We began this journey in Columbus with wonderful doctors but decided to continue it at the Cleveland Clinic. So, here we are...
For the next six weeks, Erich and I (this is his mom journaling) will be staying near the Cleveland Clinic Campus. Erich will be receiving chemo treatments once a week on Mondays and radiation treatments five days a week. We get to relax and enjoy Cleveland on the weekends! At the end of the six weeks, more tests and scans will be done, and then Erich will decide the next steps in his life. We of course are hoping for a miracle. It was rough hearing your son say to you, "Well, I made it to 30 years of age." This is a tough cancer, but we are a tough family.
We are forever grateful to all our family and friends...the kind thoughts and prayers...and most importantly...the love that we feel from all of you at this time. We have good days and we have tired days. We have smiles and we have tears. For right now, we are simply taking one day at a time.
