Eric Bruton

 Dear friends and family, we have some sad, worrisome news to share.  Our wonderful Eric has suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm and in typical Eric style - he is fighting valiantly!

 He had been complaining of severe headaches, thought to be a sinus infection, which was attributed to the recent devastating fires, and thick smoke that enveloped Ventura. On Thursday, December 21st, he collapsed, and was taken to the local hospital in Ventura, then transferred to Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, where a successful procedure was done to plug the aneurysm. His brain needs to be kept perfectly quiet, so he was placed into a drug induced coma, which he will remain in for at least two weeks. All his vital functions and needs are being managed by his medical team. 

 Cottage Hospital’s neuro facility is renown, and his medical team is outstanding. He is in the best place to be for this, and we are grateful for their amazing skills and knowledge. The hard part is, it’s going to be a long wait... we have no answers until he is ready to be awakened. We keep telling ourselves, “this is a marathon, not a sprint”. And Eric is the kind of guy that takes his time and is methodical. So we are on Eric time now, and he is testing our patience to the fullest.

 This site was created to keep all informed, and will be updated with changes, which may not happen everyday.
Though we appreciate the love and support of everyone,  answering individual texts and phone calls is just too much for now.
Visiting, even  for the immediate family, is severely restricted, as Eric is not to have any stimulation.
Check the "Journal" section for any updates. You can leave messages to Eric in the "Well Wishes" section of the website, which we’ll read to him when he wakes.
But mostly we ask for your positive thoughts, energy and prayers.
