Emmalye Keppers

Emmalye is a beautiful 13 year old who was diagnosed with scoliosis at age 10. At that time her spinal curve was at 30 degrees, over the next couple of years Emmalye wore back braces that were very uncomfortable for her in order to prevent the curve from worsening. Six months ago in June Emmalye had more x-rays done that showed an increase in her spinal curve. It was now at 55 degrees.  We then decided to proceed with surgery to correct the curve, this would take place in December. Over the next six months, Emmalye was having back pain that limited her ability to do things that she loved to do, such as shopping and gym at school. She did attend physical therapy that did help with some of the pain she was having.  At her follow up appointment prior to her surgery her x-ray had indicated that her curve had increased even more and was measuring at 65 degrees.
