Breast Cancer.
I never thought that I would hear that diagnosis, let alone at age 31. To say that I am shocked would be an understatement.
On Friday, June 17th I got the call with the news - I learned that I had breast cancer. The preliminary diagnosis was Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (Stage 0, moderately aggressive). This diagnosis quickly shifted on June 29th to highly aggressive Stage II breast cancer. I will need a bilateral mastectomy, chemotherapy, radiation, endocrine therapy, and hormone blocking therapy.
Many of you who will visit this site are already connected to me and my family - Jonathan and I have two amazing sons (James and Oliver) and two snuggly fur babies (Cooper and Maple) and call Wilmington, North Carolina home. We are starting a Caring Bridge Site to help update our family and friends as we manage the uncharted territory of cancer diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. We look forward sharing and posting updates here. Prayers and any words of encouragement are welcome; feel free to post a message directly through CaringBridge.
If you feel called to make a financial contribution, my sister has set up a GoFundMe Page:
