On May 26 our mom, Emily (some know her as Tokkie) had a severe stroke while at the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, Canada.

It has been a whirlwind since then and we thank you for your continued prayers for her, my dad and the rest of the family.

For the 1st week it was unclear if she would survive the stroke. My brother, Tony, flew out from South Africa  to spend time with her  and has since returned to South Africa.

After 2 weeks in hospital my mom was considered medically stable and on June 13th she was moved to a Rehab Centre in the city.

She is making steady progress and is:
- able to eat on her own 
- learning to walk 
- able to communicate
- working on the use of her left arm & leg


We have been amazed at her determination to work hard at rehabilitation. Her faith and trust in God has been so beautiful to witness.


There are still so many unanswered questions about what the future holds. After multiple assessments at the rehab centre we will have a meeting with the doctors and therapists to discuss the way forward and the rehab plan for her.
