Emily was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer in the liver and lungs. For those who don’t know Emily, you’ve never met a sweeter and more positive person. Mike and her have such a strong marriage, and faith in God. Mike is a retired Lt. Colonel from the Army, and they have survived many deployments and moves. Mike is currently an ROTC instructor at East High School in Memphis, TN, while Emily stays at home with their three children.
I’ve known Em since we were freshman in college, when we pledged ADPi, and have done life together since then. We’ve literally spent hundreds of hours on the phone analyzing our children’s developments. Emily is the most wonderful mother. Madelyn is a little Emily-looks, acts, talks just like her! Benton, their middle child, has cerebral palsy, but as parents, they have always treated him “normal.” He has apraxia, so he can’t talk, but Em taught him sign language, and he has no problem communicating what he wants! Their youngest, Weston, is definitely a Mama’s boy. Very headstrong, and typical youngest child.
Please continue to pray for Emily, Mike, Madelyn, Benton, and Weston. Also, pray for her parents, Rex and Gloria. This diagnosis has been particularly hard for them, as they lost Em’s brother to cancer 4 years ago.
Em and Mike are very humble people, and would never ask for help, but no doubt appreciate you making things a little easier for them during this trial. Prayers are most important, so please feel free to share and leave a comment letting them know you're praying for them.
