Emilia Hurtado Emilia's Fight

The Hurtado family would appreciate your prayers, support and words of hope and encouragement. Their friends are using this website to send out prayer requests and give updates.   Right now, the biggest need is for you to please pray for Emilia and the family, especially Juan, who will be getting an update from the doctor on Monday. 


For those of you who do not know the details yet, Emilia has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).  Pray for healing in each cell of her body and for this cancer to go away.



She just finished chemotherapy at Rush Medical Center.  She was admitted 2 months ago to receive two rounds of chemotherapy.  It was the family's hope that she will be getting a bone marrow transplant soon.  This is an aggressive cancer and she is still at 90% blast.  She needs to be at 0% blast to receive the donation. The family is devastated.  Pray for doctors to have wisdom and knowledge to create a treatment plan that will work to remove this cancer. Pray for peace,  comfort and hope for the family.


These are unprecedented times for everyone.  It has been especially hard for Emilia to be alone in the hospital. This has been have hard for her family who has suffered so much loss already in the past - Emilia's husband and younger son died tragically in a car accident.  Emilia is an amazing mother and grandma. She has 4 very young grand kids, two loving sons and daughter in laws, two sisters, a brother, a mom and a nephew.  And a large extended family.  Her youngest grandson was born while she was in the hospital during the emergency birth a few weeks ago.   Needless to say, please pray for strength and endurance for her and the family.
