Elliott Jay was born April 11, 2013. He was 5 weeks early. He was flown to a NICU about 12 hours after he was born. We spent a month in the NICU! He was breathing completely on his own before he was 24 hours old! He struggled to learn to eat and when we brought him home he still didn't take the bottle the best! When he was about 5 months old our primary doctor sent us to a failure to thrive clinic at Childrens. We weren't there long and we were being admitted because they could tell he wasn't breathing properly. He was aspirating. So that is when he got his g-tube and we found out he had a syndrome of some sort. They tested and tested and found nothing. That winter he was in the hospital twice but never for very long. We've had numerous hospital stays but in May 2016 we had a scary experience. Elliottt got c-diff and it got bad fast and he got sepsis and then his little body went into shock and his kidney and liver shut down and since then we're still working on getting his kidney function back to where it should be and that is also the time when we found out what syndrome he has. We want to thank everyone for the support we have received thru CaringBridge!
