I've been debating on whether or not to start a CaringBridge but I'm know realizing I need the positive vibes from all my family and friends. So here's my story: A couple months ago I felt a lump in my right breast, so after a mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy I got the dreaded Breast Cancer diagnosis. On Jan 26 I was told I have Invasive Ductal Carcinoma grade 3. ( I'll let you google to learn more). Glenn and I immediately went into Breast Cancer 101 and together were able to gather and learn as much as we could . I was able to get 3 opinions from great Doctors, all confirming the same diagnosis and treatment plan. As far as they know this is Stage 1 and we'll know for sure after they test the lymphnodes on Monday .I have decided to have a double mastectomy with immediate reconstruction at Beaumont in Troy This option should eliminate the need for radiation and possibly no chemo depending on the pathology report once this cancer is out and tested. Because it's estrogen receptor positive I will probably need to go on Tamoxifen. Surgery is scheduled this Monday, March 27, yep, lines up perfectly with our spring break, so no Florida this year. Fortunately, my parents are still in West Bloomfield which makes for a convenient cozy home to recover. I'm planning on being downstate for a couple weeks. I'll be in goods hands as I have 3 shifts of caregivers. Glenn, Erin and Emma will take the first shift , my sister Caryn is coming in for the 2nd shift and my parents will be back from Florida a little earlier than scheduled and take the 3rd shift. My goal is to remain positive and heal completely so I can put this cancer behind me. I would love and appreciate any prayers, encouraging words and humor to help in a full recovery. God Bless and love you all Ellen💕
