On September 30, Ellen Rachel was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. A biopsy and bone scan a few days later showed that the cancer had metastasized to her pelvic bone and right tibia. (Her right foot also has a bone-to-bone tendon tear that occurred while on vacation in Europe this summer.) The cancer has also spread to her stomach and liver.
