Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
We are transferring over her story from CarePages/GrayDog/updates.  CarePages may be going out of business.   We appreciate all that they have done for us.
It has been going on for at least 3 years. The previous posts are numerous with over 4312 messages.  It is overwhelming. I am not sure if we will post all of these back on this website or not.

Ellen was in a head on motor vehicle accident on 12/5/14 by a wrong way driver on the highway.
Tragically our highly regarded friend, Scott Kuhnert, was killed in the accident. They were the only two riding in the car. We cannot stop thinking and praying for Kristine Kuhnert and their three boys. It is not fair, and we want to reach out with strong arms around them.

Ellen was intubated in the field and airlifted to Sparrow hospital. She has a Traumatic Brain Injury with subdural hematoma and fractures. She had surgery for left ankle talar fracture, pins for multiple metatarsal phalangeal dislocations of her right foot, chest tube for collapsed lung, and craniectomy (craniotomy) where they removed part of her skull to remove subdural hematoma and allow for reduced brain swelling.

The outpouring of concern and prayers for the Kuhnerts and our family is beyond remarkable. Ellen’s family truly appreciates the genuine friendships and constant support. We are very fortunate to have family and friends helping us, feeding us, and visiting us in the hospital. As most of you know, Ellen is the best. The six of us are blessed to have her here under the protection of the Heavenly physician. We are so happy to be with her. The world will be a better place with her giving soul, hard work, and love.
